Another tip for using chopsticks. Normally, there are chopsticks (tori-bashi) for taking food from large dishes, and using your own chopsticks to do so (doing “jika-bashi”) is considered bad manners. Among familiar company, however, the host often encourages you to use your own chopsticks (jika-bashi) so as you can enjoy meal without hesitation in a relaxed atmosphere.
