[Seasonal Life Tips / When using the heater, ventilate the room regularly]
When using the heater (especially a kerosene or gas heater) in a closed room for a long time, the air gets polluted with fumes and dries out, and this can be unhealthy. There’s also the danger of poisoning by carbon monoxide or possibly even asphyxiation (in the case of kerosene heaters). It is important to ventilate the room often.

[Ask a Foreigner: What I like about Nara living / A city for bicyclists]
I’m the CIR, Coordinator for International Relations, from NIFS. I would like to introduce you to Nara city as a city in which you can move around by primarily by bicycle. In my hometown (US) you learn to drive at 16 years old, and most people, with the exception some elderly citizens, drive anytime they need to go anywhere. Riding a bicycle or walking from one place to another is often thought of as either exclusively for children, or else exercise for adults. In Nara the sidewalks are wide and the city is not very spread out, making it suitable to move around easily by bicycle and on foot. Because of this, one can enjoy the nearby landscape, take a different route according to one’s mood and enter any small store or restaurant on a whim. This “joy of mobility” is one of the enjoyable things I discovered in Nara.
