How to call an ambulance and dialogue model

If you're sick or injured to the point you can’t go to the hospital on your own, or if it is an emergency, call the fire department and ask for an ambulance.

Calling an ambulance is free of charge. The telephone number is “119” and is free, even from public phones. When the representative gets your call, tell him/her the following.

1If you do not speak Japanese
「Watashi wa nihongo ga amari hanasemasen.」(I don't speak much Japanese)

2.Why you are calling?
「Kyuubyounin desu.」(It's an emergency)
「Keganin desu.」(It's an injured person.)
「Suguni kite kudasai.」(Please come right away.)

3.Present location
「Ima, [___shi]___cho____…ni imasu.」(I am in ___city, ____town,___now.)

4.Name
「________desu.」(I'm ________.)

5.Name of the disease/injury
「Byouki nano wa (kega o shitano wa) _____ desu.」(The name of the person who is sick (hurt) is _______.)

6.Age and gender of the sick/injured person
「Dansei (Josei) desu.」(Male (Female).)
「__ sai desu.」(___years old.)

7.Telephone number
「Denwa bangou wa 090-xxxx-xxxx desu.」(My telephone number is 090-xxxx-xxxx.)

*Saying numbers in Japanese
1(ichi), 2(ni), 3(san), 4(yon), 5(go), 6(roku), 7(nana), 8(hachi), 9(kyuu), 0(zero)

Example of how to say a telephone number: 090-1234-5678(zero, kyuu, zero, (pause) ichi, ni, san, yon, (pause) go, roku, nana, hachi)

*When you can't communicate ask for help to a neighbor who speaks Japanese.

*When calling the fire department because of fire, call “119” and say「Kaji desu. (Fire.)」
