The NIFS 20th Anniversary Commemorative International Exchange Photo Contest

The Nara International Foundation ~Commemorating the Silk Road Exposition~ (aka NIFS) is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, and to commemorate the year, we’ll be holding a Photography Contest with the theme of “International Exchange around Nara”
NIFS is now collecting pictures that depict some type of international exchange taking place inside of Nara prefecture, as well a caption to describe it.

【Theme】
“International Exchange around Nara”

【Entry Period】
October 1st, 2009 until January 16th, 2010.

【How to enter】
Mail the following to photo@nifs.or.jp – The photo you wish to enter into the contest, including a title, a short description of the contents (under 50 words), the location, and the date it was taken. Also include your name, age, address, and phone number. If you’d prefer, you can also send all this informaiton on a cd to the address below:

【Judging】
We’ll be putting entries up on our website after the applicant cutoff date in January, and voting will last until the beginning of March. Votes will be taken into account when judging, but will not necessarily determine the winners.

Winners will be announced by the end of March, 2010.

【Awards】
Grand Prize – 1 person – A travel coupon for 30,000 Yen
Runners Up – 3 people – A 20,000 yen gift certificate
Honorable Mentions – 5 people – A gift set of Nara goods

【Entry Provisions】
•Anyone can enter
•Entries must be photos taken by the entrant, and cannot have been submitted to any other contest.
•Eligible photos can date from anytime between 2007 and the present.
•Eligible photos must be between the sizes of 640×480 and 3072×2304, and the file format must be JPEG.
•Each entrant can submit up to 3 photos, but only one prize will be awarded per person.
•Photos can be cropped, and adjusted for contrast and color balance (etc.). Any other modifications to the image will result in disqualification.
•Permission must be obtained from anyone who is in the entrant’s photo, and for minors, permission must be obtained from a parent or guardian. The entrant assumes all responsibility in this matter.
•If for any reason an entrant’s photo should be disputed by a third party, it is that entrant’s responsibility to take appropriate action to resolve the issue so as not to become a problem for NIFS or any other entrant.
•By submitting your entry to the contest, you grant NIFS unlimited rights to use the picture on their homepage or any printed materials, without consent or compensation for the entrant.
